After completing a degree in computer science and pursuing post graduate courses in Mathematics and Japanese, He moved towards filmmaking by choice. He joined FTII Pune in 1991 for a 3 year cinematography course which got completed in 1994. Since 1995 he has been professionally active in Mumbai. His years of participation in the Indian Media and Entertainment Industry have also coincided with the tectonic shifts that our industry has been witnessing over the past two decades. Having an unconventional approach – both in thinking and practice with an ability to quickly learn and adapt have been my core strengths.
As a result, 3 of the films that he has worked on got National Award whereas 1 got nominated as the official entry into Oscars from India. He would consider himself fortunate that he could become part of some of the key projects which became cornerstones of future trends in an industry which remains forever compelled to reinvent itself. In 2014 he started a social enterprise called Cinevidya with a purpose to spread audio visual content creation skills amidst children at grassroot level all over India.
